Last week the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) issued a draft proposal to implement the Dodd Frank Act’s loan officer compensation restrictions. You may have heard this referred to as the “flat fee rule.”

The NAMB board and Government Affairs committee convened a task force to read and analyze the release and make recommendations to the CFPB on how these new rules may affect both the protection to the consumer and allow you, the Mortgage Professional, to continue to serve the vital role in this nation of providing home financing to millions of Americans that rely on you every day!

The intent of the new draft rules, which are scheduled to be proposed this summer and implemented in January 2013, is to make it easier for consumers to understand mortgage costs and compare loans so they can choose the best deal . . .
